The EA Sports FC 25 Ultimate Team ‘Deep Dive’ was Disappointing…

EA Sports have just dropped everything coming to FC 25 Ultimate Team and let’s just say, it has been a bit of a disappointment.

Given we knew about Rush coming into FC 25 due to their recent announcements, it kind of felt like this was 'it' for FUT.

What we learnt about FUT 25

We did find out some new things about FC 25 and FUT, or FIFA 25, whichever you call it. We found out information regarding how Rush will work, FC IQ in FUT, relegation coming back to Division Rivals and of course, cosmetic changes!

Rush

Ultimate team ‘Rush’ sees you partner up with 3 other friends to create a 5 v 5 game mode, as the GK is controlled by the AI. You can also participate in random drop in matches. Playing games and competing in challenges will see you earn ‘Rush Points’ that can then be redeemed in a store section. However, they’ve not said what sort of rewards we shall see here.

Anyone remember how moments and tokens went down a poorly? Yeah… What happens if EA forget to add rewards that are actually worth playing for.

My hope was that EA were going to introduced a casual mode to Rush, a competitive mode in a form of ranked and something in between. I’m also not sure if you can even invite your friends to do a 5 v 5 battle, something to keep our eyes peeled for.

Player Roles Override Work Rates

Work rates are completely gone now on EA Sports FC 25, being replaced by player roles. I’m happy about this, work rates at times felt a little cookie cutter and some players were so non-existent based on their work rate, e.g medium/medium.

Players can also gain roles throughout the season, for example a player receives a TOTW item and it was due to them playing as a shadow striker, that item will have this role assigned.

New Stadium & Match Experience

Stadium Design

We also get some state of the art stadiums with more immersive environments and extra locker room sequences.

Not something I’m interested in but sure there are some that are!

Community Improvements

Duplicate Storage & SBCs

Finally EA Sports listened and did something we’ve been asking for! Now we have a duplicate storage, holding up to 100 items. Making SBCs much easier, I’m sure plenty are a fan of this.

Division Rivals

The reward system has had a revamp meaning instead of playing for wins, we now play for points. A positive change as a draw will now get you closer to that weekly goal.

The three options we used to get for our weekly rewards have now been taken away, just one reward for your division.

Then, at last, return to relegation!

Legacy Division Placement

When we load up FC 25, we will be starting our division rivals journey based off where we finished our EA Sports FC 24 journey, within reason. The table below explains this.

Live Football Ultimate Team™ Friendlies

Instead of a matchmaking system in friendlies that took your division rank, friendlies will now be based on form. The aim here is to create a more balanced game for everyone.

Contract Removal

EA has been moving in this direction with a lot of consumable items and they’ve done it again this year, by removing contracts. Let’s be real, they were just an added hassle for no reason. A positive change in my opinion.

And that’s pretty much everything of notice in EA Sports FC 25 FUT reveal. Yes there is some great additions, but I was really hoping for more in terms of FUT Champs, Co-op and most importantly, draft.

The whole deep dive has been released for you to dissect yourself should you wish, let me know what you think of the changes!
